Rebirth

© Julie Ruffell

I am wet
I am cold
But I don't care
I am lying in
A frosted field
With a silver glow on my paper
There she sits upon her perch
Casting down her power
The force that has followed
The Earth for millennia
Is here once more
For another
The longest night
The winter Solstice
I have yet to go to bed
Rather I ride my bike
To nature's land
To see the light
That will not be seen again
For another two generations
What a time to live
As the Earth is once more reborn
Under the brilliant light of the moon

A beautiful silver ring of light
Around her
I will see this light,
A new century,
And a new millennium
Perhaps I should
Live in the moment of rebirth
And truly create myself anew
I could live my life starting now
Not shackled by the past
I could be free of those chains
That hold me
And I see this light
Above me
Life could shine anew
Like the silver cast rays
Of the moon
